Quiet Brilliance: Pinhole New York by Stefan Killen

Pinhole New York is a gorgeous gallery of pinhole photos made by photographer Stefan Killen over the past twenty years.

It includes photos of people, locations, and architecture he has come across in the metropolitan area of New York, and they were taken by one of the many homemade cameras he designed to hold 120 film.

Wardrobe Malfunction…  Oops, it’s Madrobe Walfunction!!

Madrobe Walfunction is one of the best new alt-rock bands I’ve heard in recent times. Having done a few publicity BTS shoots for them, I became quite familiar with their music, and was waiting to see them live on stage.

And finally at their first gig in the city at Blue Frog, I made sure to be there since soundcheck.

Though it was a fun shoot, most of the times I was pushing the camera to it’s limits. Especially for soundcheck, the light was real tricky. Nevertheless I’m happy that the music was appreciated and I got a few keepers.. ;)

Muhammad Ali, photographed by Howard L. Bingham I was in Brussels the other day, and in the basement of the Taschen store, I stumbled upon an original print of this photo. It is an incredibly powerful image. Even if you wouldn’t know a single thing about Muhammad Ali, this photo tells you that he is no ordinary man. His eyes ooze determination while he casually points at what could be the most insignificant thing. No matter what he points at, boys and girls will turn their heads in awe. Like a god from a cloud, Ali guides the people from his Cadillac. Priced at €10,000, the print was slightly above my budget. Then again, the photo was signed by The Greatest himself. For now, I guess I’ll just have to add this book to my wish list instead.
